Located in the South of Mount Kilimanjaro Lake Chala is around 60 kms from Moshi. The great diversity of amazing trees, plants, birds, colourful butterflies including spectacular birds of prey enhances the beauty of Lake Chala. Wild mammals do stroll the region including elephants, dik-dik, Kudus, baboons and many more. Chala is an untouched part of the truly ancient land of Tanzania and a must-visit place if you are thinking of a day trip.

Lake Chala day trip visit

Lake Challa is a beautiful dawn wrapped caldera lake bordering Tanzania and Kenya nestled on the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, 51 Kilometers from Moshi town. We will take you to this beautiful Savannah area to learn more about Chagga legends around this area.

Tour Start 9:00 and end 3:00 Pm.

On arrive at Lake Chala you will get historical background of the lake and its important to Chagga people on Tanzania side and Kamba people on Kenya side and the wildlife around the area. After there will prepare our self for walking where we will start from lake Chala Campsite along the crater rim up to the lake view where if weather permit we will be able to the get the beautiful view of mount kilomanjaro from there we will extend our walking to the biggest baobab tree around the area where monkeys use It to view enemie from distance, interested client can climb to the top, after that we will return back for hot local lunch and having few minutes for brake before trekking down to the lake to feel the lake breeze and Kayaking for those who are interested.
